Jim developed his passion for serving the visually and hearing impaired because of his dad’s loss of sight with Macular Degeneration and his son’s struggle with tunnel and only eight degree field of vision. He is active in Foresters, Lions and Children’s Crisis Center. Jim is Executive Vice President of California Mortgage Associates. Pat Syvertsen - Vice President. Pat is active in several community programs. She supports and assists her husband Jim in many of his community interests and events. Pat Gillum - Chief Financial Officer. Pat is a Certified Public Accountant. She is active in many civic and service organizations including the Modesto 500 Lions club and Children’s Crisis Center plus helping Jim make this center a success. Brian Elliott - Board Member. Brian is a general partner of Modesto Optometric Vision Center with offices in Modesto and Riverbank specializing in Low Vision and was active in the beginning of the Visually Impaired Persons of Stanislaus (VIPS) support group that has joined in with VHIPS to better serve the low vision population of the central valley. John De La Mora - Secretary. John works in the insurance industry as an investigator. He is 1st Vice President of Modesto 500 Lions and has been involved in several other community organizations.Thom Ingebretson - Board Member. Thom has been legally blind since 1995 and has been the president of VIPS for the past three years. Jerry Moore - Board Member. Jerry became interested in helping the low vision and family members of a person of low vision understand the disease and how to deal with it since his father-in-law was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration in 1995. He brings 40 years experience involving research and technical projects at Stanford Research Institute, Ampex Corp & Lockheed Corp. |
